“Innovative Approaches to Youth Health: Engaging Youth in Creating Healthy Communities”

This year the conference will celebrate its 35th year. The 2014 theme is “Innovative Approaches to Youth Health: Engaging Youth in Creating Healthy Communities” and will focus on research and interventions that engage minority youth as active participants, leaders, and advocates to take charge of their health and the health of their communities. Minority youth often face increased health risks due to sociodemographic factors that lead to greater health disparities. By addressing individual/interpersonal factors, structural and systemic barriers, and incorporating youth in the process, we ensure improved and sustainable health outcomes. The conference will highlight innovative approaches that involve minority youth both domestically and internationally in order to address a variety of public health issues among diverse populations and communities. Join us in Chapel Hill or online for the William T. Small Jr. keynote lecture webcast.
