Small Business Saturday

"As part of an effort to remind all of us about our unique small businesses here in Franklin County, a proclamation declaring the Saturday after Thanksgiving as “Small Business Saturday” has been signed by County Mayor Richard Stewart."

"The idea of ‘Small Business Saturday’ started a number of years ago. Retailers count on holiday sales to finish their year in the black."

"The day after Thanksgiving has been known as “Black Friday” because of the many deals offered by large retailers and on-line stores. Since small businesses are truly the heart of every community, smaller retailers felt left out."

"Franklin County has many unique and interesting places to shop, eat, and be entertained from Sample’s Family Restaurant and The Curly Willow in Estill Springs, to Buckaroos Family Restaurant in Huntland, to Java Hut and Corner Unique’s in Decherd, to The Lemon Fair and Shenanigan’s in Sewanee, to Treasure’s and Skip’s Grill in Winchester, to the various small business and restaurants on Winchester’s historic courthouse square."
