19 North Carolinians Die from New Drug

Local officials have revealed the dangers of a new drug known as furanylfentanyl, a synthetic opiate which has killed at least 19 North Carolinians so far this year. 80 times more potent than morphine and 20 times more potent than heroin, furanylfentanyl is often used by cancer patients to alleviate pain. Unaware of the dangers, users have accidentally overdosed and emergency responders have been unable to revive them.
