Senate passes first four budget bills

"After denouncing the emerging state budget for doing nothing to tighten up government ethics, most Democrats in the state Senate voted in favor of the first bills of what is expected to be a $150-plus billion spending plan. A bill relating to public protection and general government (PPGG) passed by a vote of 57-3 and another dealing with education, labor and family assistance (ELFA) by a 59-1 vote. A bill dealing with transportation and economic development (TED) passed by a 58-2 vote and a bill on health and mental hygiene (HMH) by a 59-1 vote.", as reported by Jimmy Vielkind of Politico.
